Diethard Mattanovich is Professor of Microbial Biotechnology at BOKU – University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna and initiator of „Fermenting Futures”. At BOKU and the Austrian Centre of Industrial Biotechnology (acib), he investigates the application of yeasts for the production of pharmaceuticals and chemicals of our daily use, such as biopolymers. He is Chair of the International Yeast Commission, for which he organised the International Yeast Congress in Vienna in August 2021.
