PhD Candidate, Neuroscience
University College London, UK
Mentor, Romanian Science Festival
Originally from Timisoara, Vlad Arimia is currently a PhD student in the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at University College London (UCL) under the supervision of Claudio Stern FRS. In school he became interested in the mechanisms underpinning the formation and function of the nervous system. As an undergraduate, Vlad read Neuroscience at UCL obtaining a Master’s of Science degree in 2021. After two successful lab internships supported by the UK Genetics Society, the British Society for Developmental Biology and the Company of Biologists he was convinced there’s nothing better than being in a lab working with embryos! As such, he enrolled as a graduate student in Developmental and Stem Cell Biology and is currently investigating the early induction and regionalisation of the vertebrate nervous system in the world-leading laboratory headed by Claudio Stern FRS. Vlad also enjoys sharing his passion for science as part of initiatives such as the Romanian Science Festival - through which he interacts with school children and members of the public.
